Margo’s Tribute to Tom McBride

The crowd they come, the queue never ending
I stand and watch the teardrops fill their eyes
Everyone loved the Country Giant
My friend our Hero Tom McBride
I love all the memories that we made together
Times we spent and songs we both sang
The music stopped the day you went to Heaven
Rose came for you as the bells of love they rang
So Rest In Peace dear Rose and Tom McBride
I can see you both now sitting side by side
I know your love’s rekindled up in Heaven
On Earth we’ll miss you at each ebbing tide

My Personal Tribute to you Margo

Margo you are very special to me, but this I think you know
From the first time me met in Ballymacnab all those years ago
My sister Rose was not long dead and part of me had gone
God sent you with your music and smile, so for me in you she lives on.
“Dear God” was one of our special songs that we loved to sing together
I thank you for being part of those memories that will live in my heart forever
Your songs tell your story, and are really from the heart
The true ups and downs of life, and how you played your part
No need for riches or grandeur or praise for what you do
But for all of us who know you, your loves comes shining through
You are a very special person, chosen by God above
To share your gift with others and radiate his love
So sincere Congratulations as your 50th year’s not long begun
A Queen in your own right, certainly number one
We are all on the journey together, and its easier when we show we care
Our reward will be everlasting with God, an Eternity we can she.

Much love always
Anne G.

If we’re lucky in one lifetime, we will meet a chosen few
Neilie Greene was one such person, honest, kind and true
It seems God needed him in Heaven, so he took him away
Now we will miss this special man, much more than words can say

Oh! how he loved the Celtic Team, since he was just a boy
He flew their flag upon the hill, it was his pride and joy
“Tess” I know you’ll miss him, each day, week, month and year
But Neilie will be with you, as each night is drawing near

In Neil’s funeral mass I did hear so many people sigh
As I sang in Tribute to my friend, and all came and bid good-bye
I sure sang for you with passion, and I want everyone to know
We will miss you and remember you, because we all loved you so

Keeping it Lit

Long long ago when the people had some sense in their heads and when “Themselves” were treated with respect, the heart of the homes was the fireplace, with its sooty crane, the pot hooks and the kettle hanging from it and the fire that was never let die. All day long the fire was kept busy, it boiled the water needed for daily tasks, it baked bread, heated the tea and in the evening when the sun went down and the days work was done it was around the fire that people gathered for entertainment, exchanging stories, songs and music, richer than anything money could buy.
When the time for bed arrived the embers of the fire were settled for the night and in the morning with cock crow, the ashes were raked and the last embers brought back to life with a  few splinters of wood and small pieces of turf and soon as if magic the flames would be leaping in the heart of the home again ready for another days work.

The gentle ways of the Irish
Just like the faint embers in the hearth
Need a dam good raking
To get the flames dancing again

In my career  I have travelled, to many far off lands
I’ve stood in places of grandeur, I’ve shook many famous hands
But my invitation from Breezy, to Glenties Highland Hotel
Stands out so extra special, more than words can ever tell
Her “Raking the Ashes” is special you know, it tells stories of long, long ago
I see a talent that’s rare in her, and I believe in her so
So that’s why I’m here in Glenties, back home in my own Donegal
To salute Breezy Willows, may you always stand proud and tall
In Memory of George Jones (The Possum)

In our world of Country Music, a pure legend has passed on

He has gone to join God’s Choir, George Jones really does belong

Known to all of us as the Possum, with a voice of solid gold

Rest in Peace our dearest Jonesy, For-ever in God’s home

I bent down to sing a song to her, I felt love deep inside

For that special girl Fiona, so special in God’s eyes

In Fiona I saw perfection, not a flaw anywhere in sight

I wish all the world could be like her, like a light she shines so bright

My world is better since meeting her, like a warm glow in my heart

I will keep her memory close to me, that way we will never part

Written by Margo for someone special

Sweet Voice Of Margo   A birthday poem written by a fan

From Donegal to Wexford, from Galway to Chicago

My number one singer, is our own lovely Margo

All down through the years, you have made the nation happy

From people in old age, to the child in the nappy

From the cottage in Connemara, to the palace in Monaco

You can hear the lovely voice, of a special lady named Margo

And now as your birthday, is very soon to arrive

We thank God for your singing, many more years may you survive

For people who are in hospital, or maybe living on their own

When they listen to Margo singing, they no loner feel alone

Stay away from Anger… It hurts … Only You

If you are right then there is no need to get angry, And if you are wrong then you don’t have any right to get angry.
Patience with family is love, Patience with others is respect, Patience with self is confidence and Patience with GOD is faith.
Never Think Hard about the PAST, It brings Tears… Don’t think more about the FUTURE, It brings Fear… Live this Moment with a Smile, It brings Cheer .
Every test in our life makes us bitter or better, Every problem comes to make us or break us, The choice is ours whether we become victims or victorious .
Search for a beautiful heart not a beautiful face. Beautiful things are not always good but good things are always beautiful.
Do you know why God created gaps between fingers? So that someone who is special to youcomes and fills those gaps by holding your hand forever.Never forget this advice!
Happiness keeps You Sweet, Trials keep You Strong, Sorrows keep You Human, Failures keeps You Humble, Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going

Dear Lord….

So far today I am doing alright

I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or self indulgent,

I have not whined, bitched, cursed, or eaten any chocolate

I have not charge on my credit card,

However I am going to get out of bed in a few minutes and I will need a lot more help after that.

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven’t thought about it, don’t have it on their Schedule, didn’t know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those people on the Titanic who passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut back. From then on, I’ve tried to be a little more flexible.
How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn’t suggest going out to dinner until after something had been thawed? Does the word ‘refrigeration’ mean nothing to you?
How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched ‘Jeopardy’ on television?

I cannot count the times I called my sister and said , ‘How about going to lunch in a half hour?’ She would gas up and stammer, ‘I can’t. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain’ And my personal favorite: ‘It’s Monday.’ She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together.

Because Americans cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our headaches.. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect!
We’ll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Steve toilet-trained. We’ll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet. We’ll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.
Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of ‘I’m going to,’ ‘I plan on,’ and ‘Someday, when things are settled down a bit.’
When anyone calls my ‘seize the moment’ friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes, and you’re ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of Rollerblades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord.

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It’s just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula and eliminate the digestive process. The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy.

Now…go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to…not something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?

Make sure you read this to the end; you will understand why I sent this to you.

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask ‘How are you?’ Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head? Ever told your child, ‘We’ll do it tomorrow.’ And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch? Let a good friendship die? Just call to say ‘Hi’?

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift….Thrown away…. Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over.

Show your friends how much you care. Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND including me if you consider me a friend. If it comes back to you, then you’ll know you have a circle of friends.

To those I have sent this to… I cherish our friendship and appreciate all you do. We have some history together.

Life may not be the party we hoped for… but while we are here we might as well dance!’

Poems and Prayers

My Angel In Disguise

When everything seemed hopeless you helped to pull me through

And nobody will ever know how much I owe to you

My life was full of sadness and I needed setting free

I was searching for a saviour and you were there for me

The thought of everything you’ve been brings tears to my eyes

My strength, my truth, my wisdom, my Angel in disguise.

In all of the world there is nobody, nobody like you.
Since the beginning of time there has never been another person like you.
Nobody has your smile, your eyes, your hands, your hair.
Nobody owns your handwriting, your voice.
You’re Special.
Nobody can paint brush strokes, nobody has your taste for food or music or dance or art.
Nobody in the universe sees things as you do.
In all time there has never been anyone who laughs exactly your way, and what makes you laugh or cry or think may have totally different response in another, So–You’re Special.
You’re different from any other person who has ever lived in the history of the universe.
You are the only one in the whole creation who has your particular set of abilities.
There is always someone who is better at one thing or another.
Every person is your superior in at least one way.
Nobody in the universe can reach the quality of the combination of your talents, your feelings.
Like a roomful of musical instruments some might excel in one way or another,
but nobody can match the symphonic sound when all are played together, Your Symphony.
Through all eternity no one will ever walk, talk, think or do exactly like you. You’re Special.
You’re rare and in all rarity there is enormous value.
You’re Special, and it is no accident you are.
Please realize that God made you for a special purpose.
He has a job for you to do that nobody else can do as well as you can.
Out of the billions of applications only one is qualified.
Only one has the unique and right combination of what it takes and that one is you.
You’re Special !!!

This should probably be taped  to your bathroom mirror where one could read it every day.
You may not realize it but it’s 100% true.

  1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
  2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
  3. The only reason anyone would ever  hate you is because they want to be  just like you.
  4. A smile from you  can bring happiness to anyone even if they don’t like you.
  5. Every night someone thinks about you before they go to sleep.
  6. You mean the world to someone.
  7. You are special and unique.
  8. Someone that you don’t even know exists loves you.
  9. When you make  the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
  10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take another look.
  11. Always remember the compliments  you received, forget about the rude remarks.

Always  remember……

When life hands you lemons, ask  for  Tequila and salt  and call me over!!
Good  friends are like stars…..You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there.

‘Whenever God closes one door he always opens another, even though sometimes It’s hell in the hallway

I would  rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend  while I’m here than a whole truck load when I’m gone.

Happiness keeps you sweet, trials keep you strong, sorrows keep you human, failures keeps you humble,
Success keeps you glowing, but only god keeps you going

Worry looks around, sorry looks back, Faith looks up, an angel is sent to you.

Dedicated to Margo

So many songs are written of the little Isle of Green
But I’ll dedicate this one to our famous Irish Queen
Sure people speak about her no matter where you go
To her fans she is the greatest and her name is Margo.

Margo she was born in lovely Donegal
And she longed to be a singer since she was very small
With a voice of an angel her tones so sweet and low
She brought happiness to millions we all love Margo

She sang songs of Shanagolden and the Hills Of Glenswilly
The Boys of Killybegs and the lovely Gradh Mo Chroi
These songs had so much meaning to us exiles far away
Like the Emigrants Letter and Deep Sheephaven Bay

For decades she entertained on both sides of the sea
We’d travel round the country our country girl to see
Although she was a singing star, she was a friend to one and all
She’ll never be forgotten, that Girl from Donegal.

But poor health it came to her, it was time to take a rest
Her name is stamped in history for we knew she was the best
And Dear God I would like to ask of you, If you would be so kind
To bless our Country Singer with good health and peace of mind
